Youth Month Feature: Tiffany Keep

As part of Youth Month, we’re getting to know our ambassadors and sharing their stories with you. This week Tiffany Keep takes us on a journey of creativity and cycling.

Who is Tiffany Keep?
I grew up in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, on the East Coast of South Africa. My dad actually introduced me to the sport when I was just three years old, and I’ve been hooked ever since. It started off as just a hobby, which then progressed into a passion and one which has taken me on an incredible journey and allowed me to see many amazing places.

When I’m not training, I enjoy photography and trying out new things in that field, as well as writing. However, I am truly an outdoors person and my favourite past time is sharing experiences with other people outside in our beautiful country.

What’s your proudest moment?
It is hard to choose one, singular moment, but a few of my favourites would be each time I’ve had the privilege of representing my country on the world stage, such as World Championships for the past three years, or at African Games last year where I was able to bring home two gold medals for South Africa.

You’re so amazing at cycling, what other talent do you wish you had?
As much as I enjoy being able to express myself through words, I would love the ability to be able to do so through art, in any form. I always enjoy watching people tell a story through paintings, dance or singing. Like most talents, these art forms can be taught and learnt, but there’s nothing more beautiful than witnessing the work of a true professional.

What makes you lose track of time?
I think whenever I immerse myself into a creative outlet, I can quickly lose track of time and become caught up in what I’m doing. This could include anything from taking photos, writing in my journal or even researching and finding inspiration for the list of cool places I would like to visit and planning the next outdoors adventure. When you’re passionate about something, you become so focused on it, it’s very easy to forget what time it is all together.

What does this world need more of?
This world needs more open-minded, creative thinkers. Our world is changing at such a rapid pace that it requires people to be adaptable and open to change. It is quite a broad statement to make but being open to new possibility and opportunity is truly something which I feel will get you far in life.

If you had 30-seconds to convince someone to start cycling, how would you do it?
I would simply start by saying that cycling is one of the closest things you’ll get to flying, the pure adrenaline rush is utterly unmatched. Your bike will also take you to some incredible places which other vehicles simply can’t. Like an escape into a whole new world of possibility. And exercise makes you feel great too.
